Upset by twitter and water

What's the deal with following and Unfollowing on twitter?!? I had so many new followers in one day and I thought that I have finally written something good and interesting! .., but no, 24h later they press the unfollow button and disappear.

Ok, to be fair I have done that myself one or two times. But I try to be selective from the start and if I anyway press that button I have at least given the one I follow some time!! If you wanna teas me further or give feedback on how boring I am in my tweets join @Frida_Sweden.

Apart from that I will proudly share that I have been exercising tonight. I did not faint or die, I survived and did fairly good for being in the shape that I am (not really been working out except for skiing the latest couple of months) I celebrated this big step with eating some chocolate.... Good move... :/

Then when I got home I discovered that my Internet wi-fi didn't work. It was out yesterday too but I thought that it would magically solve itself over night. It didn't. So I spend the whole evening talking to this nice technical support guy while eating chocolate. Now it's fixed but then my hot water stopped working while I was having a shower. The Lord gives and The Lord takes... Now I hope for that to magically solve itself until tomorrow.

Trapped by the sofa

Today has not been an active day. I went up at 9.30... And since that... What have I done? Had some breakfast and watched two movies. Well now I've even taken a shower. I'm am thinking if leaving the apartment. At least to go for a walk. I should go for a walk. And I'm really in the mood for some wok at Lilly's.. But then I would like to have some company for that.

This weekend has been good. I had a house warming party Friday and we were about 30 people in my 66m2 apartment. That's good all got a bit more than 2m2 each! I had a great time. Very happy that they all could come. As usual I was afraid not to have enough wine or snacks so I bought a lot. We can have after work at my place for the rest of the year now without me having to go buy more to drink... We were of course a lot of swedes at the party. One of them came to me earlier in the week and asked me to warn the non swedes of the Swedish way of partying, we simply can not handle just social drinking! Haha, always all in! Thank God it was on a good level this time :)

Saturday I spent in a similar way as today. But managed to go for a walk and was invited to friends for dinner. Over all my weekend has been really good.

Now awaits me the adventure of the rest of today! An unwritten paper!!

On my way to German class

Again a day where I haven't done the homework. Yes, I'm a bad person and definitely less structured than I thought. This week I have been totally off, missed out on appointment and postponed the planning of tomorrow's event... My house warming party. There will be around 30 persons. It will be fun! And crowded!

I will probably not be able to concentrate fully on class, need to get to a store to buy some wine and snacks. Stressed? Not really.. Or maybe.. Nja, it will be good!

The fasnacht is over since yesterday it was a fantastic experience! Just people everywhere, all happy! Confetti also everywhere and bands playing and marching randomly popping up here and there. And all the costumes!!

Just have to tell you!!

I went up at 3.15 this morning.
No, really! I went out of bed 3.15 voluntary this morning. Not to catch a flight or because someone was sick or anything like that... No. Simply because the Basel fasnacht started at 4 am.

History: the fasnacht carnival is the only Protestant carnival in Europe and it's been around since somewhere around anno 1300 . There are different groups of people who practise all year long to play piccolo flutes or drums when matching with big and small lanterns. They also dress up. I will attach pictures!

So the start of the fasnacht is the morgenstreich at 4 am. I have to replete that 4 am (crazy people!!) then the whole town goes to the city centre to see this. It's about 10 000 participants and the audience is at least matching that number. At 4 am sharp someone cried out and the noise began. It was amazing! It was powerful... And very... Hm.. Hard to listen to sometimes. Cool but... Yeh.

I went to bed with all clothes still on me. Then I just got up and went out when the clock turned 3.15... Then at 5.30 I was back home, went to sleep and then up for work. Interesting day! Tomorrow I will go again, but in the evening this time!

Weird werden

Another day of my Swiss life has passed. It's very possible that my new work phone is stolen. Strange thing especially in Switzerland, and at the office which is a bit like Fort Knox... Hope some miracle will bring it back to me tomorrow.

At German class we're making progress, now we're able to speak of our vacations (urlaub) in a very basic way. And the weather as well (which at least is a very important topic in Sweden) this is so good! My feeling is that we're getting there! But I must admit, I forgot to do my homework... I feel like a bad person! I was sitting at the tram remembering this horrible fact!! So I dealt with it by making most of it on the train. And then since the teacher do not ask about it, it somehow feels like I "got away with it" when the only person that it affects is myself!!!

Last weekend was all about languages, I even made use of my French! That was.... An adventure! I had two friends over for the weekend. I tricked them into going to France (yes, some of the highlights with Basel is that you can go somewhere else. Same with Malmö sometimes! When people ask what they should see almost every time there's a recommendation to go visit Copenhagen ! Hello!! That's another country! ) well the town we visited was cute, the food was ok. But since we had to take a taxi back (missed the last train) it was a bit more expensive than I would have planned for. But my French was ..., ok!

Let's see which language to use tomorrow!

I live closer to the Rhein than I thought!

Today my world suddenly became bigger! I have for a while thought that the river of Rhein is more than just a short walk from where I live. That is actually wrong! Today I was shown just how close I really am! My god! And tomorrow I will have visitors from Sweden and already then can I show off on my new learnings!

Today I've had a busy day, working with excel sheets... Not the fun part of it which is analysing a result. No. Comparing one list with another and double checking and triple checking so that the right names are in the right columns. Oh joy!

Tomorrow I will continue. Again: oh joy!
Luckily it's soon weekend!

The gift of communication ..

Today I've had my second German lesson. I actually thought I was pretty good. How wrong can you be!!again we sat there talking about something as easy as having a meeting. What could you do with a meeting? Yes, book it, reschedule and so on.... Ooooooh! And sometimes when the teacher talks we all sit there just staring at her thinking "that was a long sentence... I do wonder what she was really asking" and when we realise that all 5 of us are completely quiet waiting for someone else to answer whatever question she was asking then we try take some questioning sound so that she will understand that no one of us can, in German, answer her question... It's tragic. But hopefully this will lead to me being fluent in German eventually!

After this fabulous lesson I was invited to a colleagues house to help with their move. My contribution was to look at their books and take the ones I wanted to not make them through them out! I really like my colleagues and therefore I'm of course happy to help!

... But I just realised that I took the wrong bag. One of the two bags I brought was filled with books that I didn't really "needed" hm. Ok as usual I will have to drag a bag through the whole of Basel. Well, the things you do!

Suddenly it happens!!!

Today is one historical day! After two months of waiting I finally got my dishwasher! Not the old one fixed, but truly a new one! I don't know what to say! I will not need to do the dishes by hand any more! It's amazing!

The guy came 1,5h early to install the machine and take out the old one. Luckily I decided to work from home already from after lunch. That was for sure a good decision. Not sure that the technician understood my jokes... Or pretty certain that he didn't.

Apart from this I will have my first official German lesson tomorrow, I wonder what we will talk about then! Last time on my try-it-out-lesson we plaid that we were tourists. Cute. Felt a bit weird, but hey we learn!

Now it's time for bed, just wanted to share the good news!
